Kyra Sanford
(Scenic Designer)
Kyra is a freelance scenic designer, painter, technical director, and props designer. She is currently the technical director and resident scenic designer at Clark College. She received her BFA in Scenic Design from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University.
Locally, her most recent credits are “Trade” and “Metaverse” with Corrib Theatre, “The Shadowbox” and “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” at Clark College, and “I F***ing Hate Shakespeare” at Bag&Baggage. Previously she has worked for Profile, Shaking the Tree, PSU, Lincoln High School, Third Rail, Portland Playhouse, and Vertigo. She has also designed several shows across the country, recently “A Little Mermaid” for Nerinx Hall in Missouri, and “The Pirates of Penzance” for Furman University in South Carolina.
One of her favorite productions in the Portland area was actually one of her first, “The Pillowman,” with Life In Arts Productions. As a new designer to the area, it was exciting to work with a new company that was doing a show that she had been interested in working on for awhile. This gave her the opportunity to work with many theatre artists whom she has worked with many more times since then. It was a great way to be welcomed into the community and jump start her career in this city.
