AnnABEL CANTOR
(LIGHTING Designer)
Annabel is an interdisciplinary theatre artist specializing in acting, devised performance, playwriting, and now lighting design. Earlier this season, Annabel performed inside a large puppet for Oregon Children’s Theatre’s remount of “Dragons Love Tacos”, and took a turn on the 21Ten stage as a virtual avatar in “Metaverse” with Corrib Theatre. Most recently, they assistant directed “Forbidden Fruit” around the corner at Shaking the Tree.
Annabel is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where her love of lighting design bloomed. Locally, she is an alum of PETE’s Institute for Contemporary Performance, where she devised “exuviae” with Kai Hynes, a Butoh-inspired dance theatre piece about transition and transformation, performed in a site-specific processional format on the footpaths of Mount Tabor park.
In her spare time, Annabel likes to read, write, cook, work out, and take cat naps. They are a strong believer in going on walks and the joys of driving a two-wheeled vehicle.
Annabel would like to extend an enormous thank you to Life In Arts Productions for fostering space, patience, and support for artists like her to develop new skills. Annabel owes a debt of gratitude to Kelly Terry and Miranda K. Hardy for their skill and extreme generosity. This design could not have happened without their advice and mentorship.
